Longines vs. Formex: Two Perspectives on Swiss Luxury

Is it better to pay for the history of a legendary Swiss classic, or the over-engineered specs of a modern independent brand? I’m putting the Longines Spirit Zulu Time 39mm up against the Formex Essence 39. One is a "True" Flyer GMT with nearly 200 years of brand heritage; the other is a "Giant Killer" that offers $10,000-tier finishing and a patented suspension system for half the price.
